When visiting Denver, it’s highly recommended that you rent a car. The car rental options at Denver International Airport can be found away from the main terminal yet still on the airport grounds. Each car rental provider has a courtesy shuttle program to take customers back and forth between Jeppesen Terminal and their rental locations. You can compare the rates to rent a car right now using VroomVroomVroom, allowing you to take advantage of great discounts and find cheap cars.
Rental cars are very useful if you prefer to leave the metropolis of Denver and explore the gorgeous lands surrounding it. With a car rental, you can drive just over an hour to Rocky Mountain National Park, famous for its many lakes, waterfalls and snowy peaks. Or you could take a shorter half hour drive and explore old gold mining towns such as Central City and Blackhawk – gamblers will find more than 20 different casinos to visit.
In nearby Georgetown, there are hundreds of Victorian buildings for sightseers. If you park your rental car for the afternoon, the Georgetown Loop Railroad can transport you to the town of Silver Plume. If you’re afraid of heights, please don’t look out the window as the train carries you atop a trestle 100 feet in the air.
The car rental companies at Denver International Airport are on-site, but located away from the main terminal. However, the airport offers a convenient, free shuttle to get you where you need to go.
Denver’s climate is fairly moderate, getting four solid seasons a year. However, it does get its share of snowfall, so check the weather report before your visit to be aware of driving conditions.
Because of the beauty of the surrounding area, it’s recommended that you find some time to explore the “ghost towns” and breathtaking views (there’s even a drive nicknamed “Oh My God” Road!) One of the top things sports fans must do in Denver is to see a Major League Baseball game, so if you’re in this city during baseball season, be sure to hop into your car rental and drive over to Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies. You might even catch a home run.

Colorado State Capitol
You might see the Colorado State Capitol building and take a photo on its steps – where you can stand exactly one mile high. The Colorado State Capitol is home to the Colorado General Assembly. It opened in November 1984. Its dome is made of real gold plates which commemorate the Colorado Gold Rush. The building is located in Denver’s Civic Center area. Its interior features Colorado Rose Onyx, a rose marble, and white Yule Marble on the Capitol’s floor. Take a tour to see the three Mile High Markers, Allen True water murals, Women’s Gold Tapestry and the Colorado General Assembly Chambers. The tours are free and available during the week.
