State Department Warns Against Travel to Thailand
The U.S. State Department is advising Americans to avoid nonessential travel to Thailand in the aftermath of the coup last week.
The department’s travel alert cited “ongoing political and social unrest and restrictions on internal movements, including an indefinite nighttime curfew throughout Thailand” in recommending that tourists and others avoid travel there and “particularly Bangkok.”
The department also advised U.S. government travelers to defer nonessential travel to Bangkok until further notice. The alert superseded an earlier alert.
