A Guide to Greece’s Hippest City

Thessaloniki, (also known as Salonika or Saloniki,) has given Greece some of its greatest musicians, artists, poets and thinkers. It has some of the most beautiful beaches and has some of the finest hotels and best restaurants in northern Greece. Home to the Thessaloniki Film Festival and the International Trade Fair and host to many cultural events, it would take pages and pages to tell you all about the city and surrounding areas and I would have to spend a year there to see it all. But this site should be enough to get you started. If you have any comments or questions please feel free to E-mail Matt and if you enjoy this site please share it with your friends on Facebook or whatever form of social media you are currently addicted to. If you plan to visit Thessaloniki along with the Greek Islands or other places on the Greek Mainland and you require assistance with hotels, ferries and tours, use my Create-an-itinerary form

8 Day Winter city tour in Athens Thessaloniki

Greece travelThis package is suitable for those who would like to experience the Greek culture and city life while avoiding the hot summer weather and the crowded islands.Your journey will begin with Athens, a modern cultural metropolis infused with a high-octane dose of history. Wander between ancient creations, temples, statues, theaters that share the landscape with contemporary buildings and museums. Observe Athenians practicing the art of hanging out on any street corner, at any time of day, sipping their coffees, debating the latest Politics news, or just watching the world go by. Next stop, Thessaloniki city. Thessaloniki is the second center of Greece, regarding governmental and administrative services, commercial treaties and financial, educational and cultural life. Its nickname is Symprotйvousa, literally the co-capital , a reference to its historical status as the Symvasilйvousa or co-reigning city of the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire, alongside Constantinople. Symbolically, it remained the same in the modern Greek state, but this became literal over the years and a funny quarrel continues between Athenians and Thessalonikians about which city is the best. Here is an opportunity for you to discover who is right. See Winter City Tour in Athens and Thessaloniki
